First week of 4/5 F

We are nearly at the conclusion of the first week of school. It has been great seeing some familiar faces and also getting to know some new faces.

I was very excited to see some faces that have grown up a little from the last time I taught them, back 4 or 5 years ago. You have all grown up so much and I am looking forward to getting to know you all over again.

This week we have introduced a range of topics and new subjects to students. This year we are implementing the new History and Geography syllabus. For the first half of the term we will be learning about the geographical location of Australia and the neighbouring countries. It was interesting looking at an atlas and comparing the size and population of our neighbouring countries.

During History, we will be focusing on the Australian Government which will tie in nicely for the Stage 3 excursion to Canberra later in the term.

For PE this term we are learning about Athletics and breaking down all the different events and working on our technique. Yesterday we practised our running, looking at how we use our heads, backs, arms, legs and feet. Are we running using the correct technique that will help us go faster? Do we need to train our bodies to improve our technique?

We are looking forward to our house meetings tomorrow to prepare for the swimming carnival on Monday. Hopefully we have some nice weather and its not too hot. Looking forward to seeing everyone dressed to support their house.
